History of Public Transportation Development in Bangkok
This study analyses andĀ visualises the development of public transportation modes in Bangkok - from the early 17th century to the present.
Through in-depth analysis and visual representation, it traces the historical canal network, the short-lived tramway system, the construction of roads in the 1970s, and the subsequent rise of the MRT and Skytrain networks.
These maps have been created by layering archival resources, historic planning maps, newspaper articles, and developmental reports. This project offers valuable insights into the rich history and ongoing development of public transportation in Bangkok - showing how the city has relied on different forms of mass transit over the years.
